“Without a free and independent media, true democracy is unattainable”  the words of Warren Christopher, probably to highlight the undercover issues of the world has been taken by the media so seriously and not only seriously, they took it for granted.

In a democracy like India, we have immense faith and trust in our media, because we have chosen our media to be free and not to be under any ruling power. A man after 12 tiring hours of his job switches to the news channel to update himself at the time of his dinner and surprisingly he more often gets no conclusion of the things, and at last, he switches off his tv being disappointed because it is as many faces as many talks, each news channel has a different theory, entirely different perception and a different conclusion, We have made our media a power itself and it feels bad to say our media is doing no justice to this privilege.

Converging the grounds of discussion to the “Sushant Singh Rajput” case. The entire nation was curious about the case and wanted to know the truth, this being a high profile mysterious case assured media long super primetime hours and our talented media shot a sixer on the ball and made things spicy, tangy, and interesting. It won’t be wrong to say there was a Bollywood movie going on almost every news channel, and the movie had no checkers of sensor board because this time it was directed by the media and the media is the power and has full rights to throw allegations.

On June 14, 2020, there comes the news, “Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput hangs himself at his house and is found dead”.And within 10 minutes it became the headline. The media reaches the site and started doing its job, well till now there was nothing wrong, as soon as the body was put into the ambulance, the media pans the camera towards the ambulance and followed it to the hospital. for an unnecessary reason, they created tension for the cops and traffic on the roads. Not only this, in all the procedures followed by, media marked its uninvited presence, hence allowing no privacy to the family, friends and closed ones.

What is the point of asking the concerned visitors outside the crematorium, “what would you like to say about it?” or “how do you feel?” who the hell feels good when some dear one passes away? And as everybody knows media left no space on the name of privacy of the family, how bad does it feel when you can’t even mourn peacefully. And those who didn’t post a picture on the demise of the actor on their Instagram handle were declared as heartless. You do not care because you haven’t posted anything. “Whoa”.

Even before the cremation got over every news channel was ready for their so-called debates with a hefty bench full of the speakers, you say what would have happened with Sushant due to which he took such a step? and surprisingly every speaker had an answer as if all of them were residing with him. Daily debates with no conclusion took on the primetime having viewers in millions.

When the trend went way too common there comes an angle of “nepotism” and each news channel had already declared this the reason for the death as if the investigation department has been handed over to the media. He died because they want their children to act, commoners are not given the opportunities, they didn’t give him films and what not? The trend continued for almost a month media roasted each possible personality and did it in a really questionable manner. simply in the minds of their viewer’s seeds of hatred and anger for the star kids and some big filmmakers were sown and yes media did that because THE ONE WHO CONTROLS MEDIA CONTROLS THE MIND OF PEOPLE… People started boycotting Bollywood and started certain campaigns on social platform certain celebrities lost their millions of followers overnight and were roasted badly, there were much-alleged sayings about them and their comment section was filled with so much dirt within hours. The comment made by Alia Bhatt on Koffee with Karan was broadcasted on tv many times and hence went viral, if looked after the matter in an unbiased way that comment makes no reason to give speculations about the death but because we trust our media and hence we trusted it. Same with the reaction of Sonam Kapoor and many other things media put forward which made people believe that this is unfair Bollywood who forced him to do it. Later on, the father of Sushant Singh filed an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and then the war on nepotism ended all of a sudden.

Now Rhea Chakraborty comes into the light and within hours news channels make headlines like “Sushant ka cash, Rhea ki aish” “love, cash, murder”  and certain other worse titles were given to the girl, also Mumbai police was roasted by the media. You probably do remember how those channels conducted debates and how brutal arguments ended up with no results and again in the prime-time show at 9 pm the news channels have shown you the precise proofs how Rhea killed Sushant, how she took over the charge on his life, she made him mentally pressurized, she blackmailed him, she portrayed him as mentally ill, being a struggling actor how can she travel Europe, she did this, she did that, speculations from all around the world. CBI took over the case found nothing like this. isn’t it funny? When these kinds of assumptions had no relevance as per the investigation of CBI this topic of Rhea the murderer also got vanished like that of nepotism.

Then comes another twist in the story when the narcotics control bureau found involvement of Rhea with the drugs. This aired yet another speculation of media that possibly she made him addicted to drugs, overdosed him, etc etc etc. then were broadcasted the headlines like “dekhiye Rhea Chakraborty ka drug paddler kai sath direct connection” (Rhea Chakraborty has some direct connections with drug paddlers) “dekhiye kaise Rhea ne diye Sushant ko drugs” (See how Rhea drugged Sushant) etc. And this too after the investigation proved false and the actress got her bail approved from high court with a statement like there are no grounds to run a case of drug paddling on Rhea as no shreds of evidence like that have been found. Meanwhile summoning rhea and her visit for the investigation was deeply interrupted by the media how does it make sense to chase her from home to NCB office and pressurizing the watchman of her society to tell if madam is inside, or where is madam, what time you last saw her. Which car she travels in, what time she visits a lawyer etc. Who the hell are you to ask about these private stuff who allows you to pock in somebody’s personal life like this.  There are certain people who are still questioning the investigation. Now what to say about this? we in India do not have anything better than CBI to investigate a case and even if you do not believe it perhaps the judiciary of the country can’t help it.

As of now media very rarely talks about the unsolved mystery of Sushant’s death, they have debates on who consumes drugs in Bollywood. These days Rhea Chakraborty is out of the limelight as the drug is the issue and Deepika Padukone is getting the fame on news channels why is Deepika hiding a face of brand value 700 crores? bullshit… What else one should do to prevent herself from coronavirus? There is too much like this going on and media keeps on changing its reference frames.

The case is not solved yet and chaos is never ended there comes a theory one after the other and the media somehow proves everything true and apparently, this comes out to be false by inspection and media catches the tail of another topic and then to other without clearing the previous one and even this can not be cleared as it was totally baseless and same with the present one when the successive topic will come into the play. These topics are for sure old for the media but have left permanent impacts on the minds of the people they still have the worthless proves given by media in their minds and they still are stuck in it. These days due to lockdown a large number of people watched tv and hence the news channels and a large fraction of people were made to believe this fictional reality which is not reality at all.

No, they didn’t because all those theories were mere theories… did they apologize for making wrong headlines, for demolishing the image of people without any proof? Again no… and why? Because you have power does that mean you are allowed to defame people?

And why all of it happened? The race to win from other news channels is the answer. News are made spicy to attract viewers to get TRP and to declare themselves as the best of all. And surprisingly all news channels tell themselves better than others… and here we get confused Aajtak hai sabse tej, Republic tv ke piche bhi koi nahi meelon meelon tak, News Nation hai char saal se no.1 ya fir ABP news aapko rakhe aage… aren’t you laughing? These are their taglines…

This was just an exemplary case media does this in each matter, gets into the matter so deeply, hurt associated people and comes out of it as they never went into it. This affects the minds of the people…. and reason? Three letters TRP
