Hey Amigos, we’re back with another interesting topic that is quite closed to our hearts and it was a kind of a survey, being college students, we personally think this topic relates to all our college pals. We have been researching this topic since very long and talked to almost 10 college students studying in as well as out of India.

These students include,
Manjeet Singh, Miami University,Oxford,Ohio, USA
Aditi Gupta, Amity University, Noida
Amrita Sen, NIIT University, Rajasthan
Ankit Kundal, Charles Darwin University, Austrailia
Palak Bansal, Cape Breton University, Canada
Shourya Veer Singhal, Symbiosis University, Pune
Nishant Aggarwal (PhD), University of Alberta, Canada
Tarun, University of Sheffield, UK
Kevin Johhnson, University of Southampton, UK
Balkaran Singh, Deakin University, Melbourne

We thank all of them for giving their valuable time to this survey.

There are a lot of criteria to college admission. So, let’s check what ate these…

Infrastructure and the size of the college

The university’s infrastructure defines its overall performance. Appropriate classes, labs, resource-based education should be available to get the best results. This can play a big role in your level of comfort, and how well you fit in. There are thousands of high-quality schools out there and they come in almost every standard. Large colleges often have a lot of resources. This could include college facilities such as student housing, libraries, computer access, health centers, sports facilities, culture and entertainment venues. Major research universities also like to have large budgets for investment in technology, technical classes and research and development labs in science, engineering and other fields of study.

Perhaps most importantly, large institutions often offer a wide range of study options, including hundreds of different majors and focuses. On that note, consider how the size of your college will affect your mood. Bigger college means more people to associate and connect with. Consider if you want to be part of a student body large, middle, or small (family). When you choose your college, you also choose the community you attend. Each student has his or her own preferences so it is best to ask yourself what setting is best for you.

College Size: Big vs Small- Source

Location

Location plays an important role in your college experience. The state, the size of the city, and the local community, all affect your college years. For example, an urban university may offer you great business training opportunities, or large nonprofit internships, while a small-town college may not have a very large campus and many campus jobs or opportunities. There are many benefits to a well-located college.

You can have better access to transportation, as a student, you need to travel a lot whether it is a college meeting or a friend’s trip.

The place has a profound effect on your overall personality. It is obvious that if you study in a busy, dynamic, busy environment your attitude and body language will change accordingly.

Things like these are important to consider in order to make the right choice in choosing the right college. Your college location can also significantly affect the finances of your college experience.

Gentry and student quality

I personally feel that one should strongly consider this point while choosing a college.

Good student quality means mental learning, education within the classroom and outside. Many people find it helpful to meet and talk with people from different backgrounds. For example, if the person next to you is lazy then you will feel the same way and on the other hand, if every student is working and always ready to work then it will improve your character to do more.

Learn Overseas Programmes

This simply refers to a program in a different country where you study and learn something new, this could be a whole semester or a year of study at a foreign university. Learn overseas programs or study abroad programs is very important for those who want to do something unusual. SAP can be very expensive at times but still, we feel like one should get it if they get the chance.

Interdepartmental Communication between Staff

You might be thinking that how understanding within this institution is important and how it can affect your college experience. But let me tell you if communication between teachers and departments is good so it will be very helpful for you in the long run.

Take any course in college it will usually take 3 years to complete so in these years you need to do many things and maybe you also need to take emergency leaves. So if the communication of the college staff is good enough you will give a quick break but if the communication is not there, it will take quite a high time for such a small yet important task. It can be very difficult for you to analyze this before entering any college but if possible you can talk to some of the existing students

Now we come to the non-academic category. As we all know that playing is just as important as reading, Extracurricular activities, clubs, sports not only to rejuvenate your mind and body but also to give you experience in different fields. Such activities also help the student in collecting important certificates and the current state of the companies looking for all these additional skills before hiring you.

1.When should you start college applications?

Admissions experts say that, generally, a student should begin the application process by the start of their senior year of high school. While they note colleges may impose different deadlines, most applications for regular fall admission will come due by January.

2.What are the most important things to see in a college?

As discussed above, the most important criteria to college admission are:

  • Infrastructure and the size of the college.
  • Location of the college.
  • Gentry and Student Quality.
  • Inter-Departmental Communication between staff members.
  • Presence of Extra-curricular Activities.

3.Is accepting admission to college binding?

No, it’s not binding. You can hold as many acceptances as you want until last date. It’s fairly certain that you’ll get your deposit back if you decide on a different school. … So, accept your acceptance even if you’re waiting to hear back from another school.

4.Can I accept more than one college admission offer?

Double depositing means putting down a deposit, and thus accepting admission, at more than one college. Since a student can‘t attend multiple colleges, it is considered unethical.
